Last night was very exciting here.  The last stitches and beads were put on Touching the autumn sky.

I think there was just a weekend, the calendar said there was one but it doesn't feel like it.

I did get a few things done which was good, including starting to actually inventory my specialty thread.  While I was doing that I also had to decide if I was sorting them by name or number - decisions.   I also double checked to make sure that my pattern inventory was up to date - don't want to buy duplicates.

I spent some time working on Touching the autumn sky.  I have not really been enjoy this piece, and I can't even really say why.  It doesn't seem to be flowing but I am trying to stay with it.

I started her hair - without a face it sort of reminds me of like an attacking alien or something.  

Missing parts

I have an update from weekend stitching, which I meant to post yesterday.

I have been making noticeable progress on Touching the autumn sky, but she is still missing body parts like feet and a head... clearly still more work to do.

Here we are the middle of April, not that you would know that here in Ottawa by the weather - it is snowing, with ice pellets and freezing rain expected later today. I guess I will have to stay in and stitch all day.

I have managed some progress on two projects since last blog

Tour - I have been trying to fill in all the missing stitches, which is slow and annoying when stitching over one but progress was made

And I have been working on Touching the Autumn Sky. she now has hands and a coat... and a variety of colours that don't always make sense

Some of my stitching friends seem to think that I should focus stitch and get her done.. but I am on the fence.

I have been working on Touching the autumn sky, specifically the many coloured skirt area.  I keep thinking about the Dolly Parton song Coat of many colours when I work on this.

I have made some noticeable progress I think.

September 2017 - last update

It has been a busy month.. and a bit.

On the 9^th I went to see my parents, during this visit we planned a day trip.  My aunt joined us as we went on the 1000 Island Cruises Lost ships of the 1000 Islands cruise.  It was a little cool and windy for the first part of the trip but was bright and sunny by the time we got back.  This cruise does not include a stop at the restored Boldt Castle but it did go around it.  It was very pretty but I am not sure of the practicality of living in a castle in the middle of a river.

After the cruise we enjoyed a lovely bbq and visit.  And the next day I returned home.

I had a fairly quiet weekend the next week.  A friend and I went to see Wind River and to lunch.  The movie was excellent though the subject matter is not for everyone. 

On the 20^th I took the train from Ottawa to Toronto where for the first time I went to Union Station before getting on the GO train and heading to Burlington.  Why would I go there you might ask?  I had a work meeting the next day but had a lovely dinner and walk along the pier.  After my meeting I got back on the GO and headed off to Oshawa to meet Bonnie.  We spent a few days in Toronto going to the Royal Ontario Museum and doing some shopping.  On Saturday morning we went to Gitta’s where we met friends for stash shopping and lunch. 

It was a packed few days, the weather was hot and not at all normal for the time of year.  Still we had a great time and managed to do almost everything on our list.

I headed home on Sunday very tired.

The last weekend of September was the Cataraqui Embroidery Guild Marketplace and Show in Kingston.  Dani and I headed down for the day and had lovely afternoon/evening visit with local stitching friends before we headed back home.

This past weekend was Thanksgiving (Canadian) and once again I travelled to see my parents.  On Saturday my aunt joined us for dinner and then I made her help identify some old photos.  We seem to have a lot with no names or the “grandma and I”. …. Not helpful!  They will be labeled shortly and I have scanned them as well.

We went to see another aunt for a large meal on Sunday before I was back home on Monday morning.

So much travelling and many things going on! This is not normal for me and I am ready for a few weekends at home.

Better late then never

The best laid plans never seem to work. 

I have had blog on my to do list but I never seem to manage to fit it in. Things have been busy the last few weeks and the rest of this month is busy at work as we move to a new software system.

This past weekend was wonderful and relaxing as I went to Retreat. 16 other great ladies and three days of stitching. 
And a lot of food. 
And laughing. 
It was a blast.

I didn't set stitching goals in October. Right now I can't remember why - oops. If you don't set them that means you succeeded right?
