Mystery project revealed

This summer I decided it was time for a feline companion.  Basically I was getting tired of talking to myself; one of my cousins had a barn cat who had kittens in the spring and they were ready for a home.  My parents were nice enough to agree to house train the new kitten and take her for her kitten exams and fixing at the vet we used way back when I was a teenager.  She is all grown up now and acting like a teenager so she has been shipped home lol.

Sylvester in December

As a thank you, I decided to stitch them a little something.  I decided on Bent Creek's Kitty cat row.  Mom has decided to have it finished as a pillow which I will start working on soon.

Happy Christmas row

I started this in July (aka Christmas in July) and managed to put in the last stitches last month.

Baby row

In July I finished Baby row by Bent Creek.  This was a gift for my cousin’s new baby Rose who was born in April.  It is now framed and at it’s new home but I forgot to get a picture of it all framed.

Finish Squared

April was a busy month but I managed to get some stitching done.

First, Wedding Row by Bent Creek.   I stitched this for one of the librarians at work, it was a challenge making the greens work the way I wanted them to.

The Good, the Bad and the Devastating

The Bad

It has been ages since I blogged!  I need like a reminder or something that says "you thought about it but didn't actually do it".

I apologize for the bad blogging habits and will attempt to do better.

Pinky swear

The Good

So the reason for the blog.

Stitching!!!

Serenity Prayer is back from the framer.  I am awaiting word on what my brother thinks, I have not seen him since it was finished.

I did a little on Bees Knees (Ink Circles) - I'm turning the corner. (I'm sure there should be some sort of joke here)

I started One hundred years (Lizzie Kate).  This is going to be a gift and has moved along well.

One of my Librarians at work is getting married this summer and I decided that I would surprise her with a stitched piece. I decided on Wedding Row (Bent Creek).  I am at about the half way point - this picture is from the weekend.

I have a new start waiting for when Row is done.  It is Winter tree silhouette by Artecy.com.  Hoping to get that started later this month.

I have also been poking at the stash zone - I got all the drawers installed in the cubes and have been organizing my threads.

Still lots to do.

The Devastating

In late March my mother's oldest sister lost her battle with cancer and passed away.  There was a lovely Celebration of Life for her on April the 10th that was a reflection of the kind, wonderful well-loved woman she was.

It was at this gathering that I saw my Uncle (mom's oldest brother) who passed away last night. It was very sudden, and unexpected.

All in a row

Last night I put the final stitches in Stitching row and added the button.

Here it is, badly photographed.  It was determined not to give a good picture.  Maybe it was too cold?  With the windchill it has been about -30 here the last few days.  Brr does not cover it.

900

This marks the 900th rambling of this blog.

I noticed last year that the number was creeping up and was somewhat hopefully that I would reach the 900 milestone before the end of the year.  Sadly I got distracted by stitching and Christmas and forgot to blog.

Today I share my first start of the year, the annual new start for a new year.  This year is Stitching row by Bent Creek.

I have decided not to use their colours and am kinda making it up as I go along.

Here is my progress from yesterday:

I noticed some of it is hard to see - there are a couple of spots that will need close ups when it's all finished

On the horizon: January SAL

As has happened the last few years, a group of us have decided to all start the same project on New Year's Eve.

We decided on a simpler project for this time: stitch count 278Wx32H

The project:

Stitching row by Bent Creek.

This pattern is actually a few years old but none of us had done it yet.

I have a few ideas for changing colours a bit.  Right now I think I may do Summer Sky fabric.

So - watch at the start of January to see this start!

Framed

It has been a busy weekend.

I headed off to the parents Friday, it's been my first trip since Christmas.  I had a nice visit with them and Saturday night we attended an anniversary party for my aunt and uncle.

As part of this trip I delivered two completed projects to their new homes which meant having to do some framing.

Giggles in the snow:

and Wedding Row:

I also had a helper (Mom and Dad's kitty Kayleigh)

I'm almost done the teddy bear I've been working on, baby now has a name so I want to add it.

Snow, Road Trip And A Happy Dance

It's been a busy weekend, one that started Friday with a big dump of snow.  The wind was high and the rush hour traffic was horrible, so now everything is white again.   So much for bare sidewalks.

Yesterday a friend and I headed off for a brief road trip (planned Friday night) and then a bit of stitching with Dani in the afternoon.

Last night I managed to finish Wedding Row:

Have a heart

This weekend I finally started a wedding gift for a cousin... who got married last June.  Opps.  I'll spare you the long winded reasons why (although I will say finding silver fabric is a pain).

So here is my start on Wedding row by Bent Creek:

I also realized on the weekend that I hadn't started an ornament for January; so much for the idea of doing ornaments throughout the year.
