Taming the stash monster 3 - DMC

I was lucky enough to be able to pick up the full collection of regular DMC threads when Michaels was still having 4/$1 sales.  In fact, I went in and got the entire set at one time.  The poor cashier was going to have to scan each one, luckily the manager happened by and decided they could be done in sets of 10.  Much faster.....

But then I had this big pile of threads.... what to do ??

I managed to sweet talk my dad into putting them all on bobbins for me :)  I gave him a bag of thread, bobbins, stickers and empty bobbin boxes.  He gave me back a set of unsorted bobbins and a few stickers of colours that were missing (insert happy suck of a daughter here)

Set of boxes - labeled on each side
Also labeled on the top

Bobbins sorted by number

There are a few bobbins missing right now, they have been pulled for projects.

Of course, I also have a collection of extra thread that does not fit in the main collection and those are stored separately.  When kitting a new project, I raid the extra pile and then make a list to take to Michaels or the main collection depending on the size of the project.

The extra thread is sorted in groups (White/Ecru, 300s, 400s etc.) in labeled zippered storage bags and labeled.  The bags are in numerical order in these nice little boxes that I got at Ikea.

This is wonderful. I was thinking of paying my teenage grandkids to sort mine as my floss collection is totally out of control
